Tygron Platform and Education: sharing knowledge and skills with each other.

The Tygron Platform is increasingly being used in higher education. This increases the need to exchange knowledge and experience between programs and teachers.

For whom:

Teachers who work with the Tygron Platform in higher education, or who are about to start doing so.

The social applications and technological developments in the field of AI, Digital Twins and High Performance GIS are moving at a rapid pace. How can we jointly contribute to a flexible learning environment – in which internships, case studies and educational programs reinforce each other – so that we can learn optimally from each other?

Program:

12.50 Walk-in
13.00 Start, welcome, introductions and planning of the afternoon
13.10 Erik Dietvorst – HAS Green Academy, teacher Applied GeoInformatics.

The Tygron Platform will be a permanent part of the four-year Applied Geo-Information Science program from the academic year 2024-2025. Students learn to use spatial data for social issues. Erik talks about the program, the teaching materials, the approach and the collaboration with Tygron.

13.35 Andy Bruijns – Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences (HR), lecturer-researcher Civil Engineering and Water Management.

Andy shares his experiences with education around climate adaptation and digitalization. HR has been working with the Tygron Platform for years and has a lot of practical material (presentations, tutorials, assignments) available in the Tygron-Edu-Share.

14.00 Coffee break

14.10 Nick van Kleij (student HR) and Bas Agerbeek (Province of Overijssel).

Nick is working for the province of Overijssel on a Digital Twin that provides the province with insight into an integrated approach with stakeholders and ensures that cooperation at the front end of urban area developments runs more smoothly.

14.35 Ferdinand Eggengoor – Saxion, teacher Civil Engineering.

Ferdinand shares his experiences and approach to implementing the Tygron Platform in education. He will start in the academic year 2025-2026 with the first step of application and will take you along in his chosen method.

15.00 Break

15.20 Tijmen Muller – Hogeschool Utrecht (HU), teacher Computer Science.

Students of Tijmen worked with the AI suite of the Tygron Platform. They developed their own neural networks based on self-collected training data. Tijmen talks about his role and the value for education.
We hope that these experiences will inspire other educational institutions. AI is a new reality – and it is crucial that we master this technology. Education, governments and companies must work together in this.
After this presentation we would like to discuss:

  • How did this process go for the students and the HU?
  • What can other educational institutions learn from this or reuse it?
  • To what extent do teachers see it as relevant to involve the current generation of students in AI?

15.50 Florian Witsenburg – Tygron

Florian explains the latest developments of the Tygron Platform and demonstrates the Tygron-Edu-Share: a shared environment where course material, tutorials and syllabi are shared.
