The discussion focused on how these parties can work together to tackle societal challenges using innovative technologies such as Digital Twins and AI. Stephen van Aken emphasized the importance of broadly applicable basic knowledge among students, particularly in the field of data-driven work, but: \u201cWhat should a university of applied sciences be able to teach every student about Digital Twins or AI? For example, if a municipality does not have internal expertise in data-driven work, it can work on solutions together with the student in the lab. Florian Witsenburg asked the panel members how they view the training structure of generalists versus specialists. That requires data ethics and care,\u201d he said. According to Schoor, this offers opportunities for students, who can work on these kinds of practical cases during their internship in which ethics and technology intersect.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-9b5ae3f elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"9b5ae3f\" data-element_type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-thegem\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-632fcca\" data-id=\"632fcca\" data-element_type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-cd1454f flex-horizontal-align-default flex-horizontal-align-tablet-default flex-horizontal-align-mobile-default flex-vertical-align-default flex-vertical-align-tablet-default flex-vertical-align-mobile-default elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"cd1454f\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Andy Bruijns indicated that teachers are sometimes hesitant about students using AI: \u201cWe are still terrified that students have done something with AI that we as teachers cannot assess.\u201d Nevertheless, he emphasized that it is valuable to stimulate AI skills in students and that teachers should also embrace this technology themselves.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-8219f53 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"8219f53\" data-element_type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-thegem\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-2ff8c97\" data-id=\"2ff8c97\" data-element_type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-d37bd50 flex-horizontal-align-default flex-horizontal-align-tablet-default flex-horizontal-align-mobile-default flex-vertical-align-default flex-vertical-align-tablet-default flex-vertical-align-mobile-default elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"d37bd50\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h4>Flexible learning environments<\/h4><p>The panelists agreed that a flexible learning environment \u2013 \u200b\u200bcombining internships, case studies and hackathons \u2013 is the best way to achieve sustainable collaboration between education and practice.
