New on the Tygron Platform

How do I get access to the Tygron Platform

To log in to the Tygron Platform you must have an active license. After downloading the application you gain access to the Platform by logging in with your own personal login details. You can obtain this login data in two ways.  You can obtain the login data by requesting a Free Trial or by requesting login information from the Domain Admin within your organization when an ongoing license contract already exists. When you have lost your password, you can request a new password using the “forgot password” function in the login screen. For more information about obtaining a license, look at the Licenses and Partnerships page on our website or send an email to license@tygron.com.

Can I obtain a demo version of the Tygron Platfrom?

Tygron offers a trial version of the platform which demonstrates at the hand of demo projects and tutorials the functionalities of the software. On our website you can find more information about the Free Trial and all the features that the Geodesign Platform has to offer.

What is the difference between creating new projects and saved projects within my license?

On the license page on the Tygron website you can see a table of the different licenses that are offered https://www.tygron.com/en/licences-and-partnerships/. The table shows that you can create more new projects than you can save. The “New Project Wizard” allows you to create a new project on the Tygron Platform. You can choose whether or not to save the new project. If you want to further develop and complement the project at a later time, you probably want to save the project. It then counts as a Saved Project in the license. Should you not choose to save your project, the project will only count as a New Project. Each year, the New Projects are reset to 0 when the license is renewed. The Saved projects remain as long as you saved them. So if you delete a saved project, you will again have free space to save a new project. So you can control this yourself. You cannot create a new project if all Saved Projects are in use. This is because the option no longer exists to eventually also save the project that you have created.

How do I request a license?

You can request a license via the Tygron Platform. By requesting a Free Trial you gain access to the Tygron Platform. In the Platform you can go to the options menu and click on “My License”. There you will find the different license options that are offered on the Platform. By choosing one of these licenses and filling in the additional information, a license contract is automatically created. You can then return this license signed to Tygron, after which an invoice will be sent. When payment has been received you will have access to the full software package. Install

How do I install the Tygron Platfrom?

You can download the installer from https://engine.tygron.com/. Go through the installation steps and see the application icon appear on your desktop. If you have an internet connection and a login, you can immediately start using the software.

Can I choose on which drive I install the Tygron Platform?

You cannot choose this, the application is automatically installed on the C: drive. This has to do with the automatic updates that are downloaded if they are available. There is, however, a special Multi installer function for organizations that use user accounts on the computers, such as often occur in schools. This allows the administrator to make the application available on multiple computers in one go.

What are the terms for installing the Tygron Platform?

The organization for which you work or follow training for must have a valid license to get a login for the Tygron Platform. You can check if your organization has a valid license and who is the domain’s admin by contacting us at license@tygron.com. He/she can provide you with your own personal login. Or request a Free Trial account to get acquainted with the use of the software. You must also have an internet connection and suitable hardware. What are the requirements for using the Tygron Platform?

To use the Tygron Platform you need a laptop or PC that meets the specifications that can be found on this page on the Tygron Support Wiki: https://support.tygron.com/wiki/Requirements. Install the application on your hardware via this installer https://engine.tygron.com/. You must also have valid login details. You will receive this after a license has been activated by your organization or you have requested a Free Trial. Finally, having knowledge about the use of the software is important. For example, through a Quickstart training you can lay the foundation for starting your own project.

I Have installed the Tygron Platform but I get a notification about my graphics card.

This can mean two things. The message that you see is an indication of what the issue with the graphic card you might be having is. You may need to update the driver of your graphics card. More information is described on this Tygron Support Wiki page https://support.tygron.com/wiki/Videocard_Troubles.

It is also possible that you have received a message asking if you can adjust the settings of your graphic card. This may have to do with the fact that your laptop has two graphics cards and that you must switch to the other card. It is also possible that your graphic card settings are incorrect.

Update

How can I update the Tygron Platform?

When an update is available, the Tygron Platform will automatically update if you are connected to the Internet when you launch the application. You do not need to do anything more to ensure that you have installed the latest version.

Can I skip the update?

No, it is not possible to skip the update. The software updates are performed automatically with the launch of the application.

How can I update drivers?

The notification indicates what is wrong with your graphic card. You may need to update the driver of your graphics card. More information is described on this Tygron Support Wiki page https://support.tygron.com/wiki/Videocard_Troubles.

Where can I find more information about the standard calculation models which are used by the Tygron Platform?

The Tygron Support Wiki describes all sources of the calculation models that have been used as a standard for the existing indicators. On the page https://previewsupport.tygron.com/wiki/Calculation_Models you will find all calculation models of the general indicators.

Which data sources are being used by the Tygron Platform?

Different open data sources are used to build a project. All sources are listed on the Tygron Support Wiki page below. How does Cloud calculation work?

The Tygron Platform consists of a Client and Server Application. The calculations for building and editing the 3D world take place on our in-house GPU servers. In this way you are assured of the fastest possible calculation time and as a licensee you always have access to the newest developments that fit within the license. Things like the visualization of the 3D world take place via the Client application, on your own hardware

What is a template project?

With the help of a template you can use your own project with a specific theme, for example focused on environmental criteria, climate adaptation, energy transition, etc. for multiple areas. The institutions of a project that are not linked to a specific geographical location, such as stakeholders, indicators and actions, can be used in this way for another project, in a different area. With the template functionality, the user can also create extensive custom indicators, which can easily be transposed to another area as a project template. You can also use existing templates, such as that of the Climategame that is available as standard in every domain. What gets transferred from a template to a new project?

All non-geographic data is copied into the template that you create from an existing project. Because you use the template for an area other than the original project, all geographically related data cannot be copied. Things like areas, measures and cinematics are therefore not included. Water module

Where can I get information about the formulas which are used by the Water Module

What are the benchmarks used by the Water Module?

In order to fully understand the possibilities offered by the Water Module, it might be beneficial to get familiarized with the benchmarks. How to…

Work simultaneously with others in the same project?

It is possible to work with several people in the same project at the same time. Your personal account must have at least editor rights. It is also important that you have created at least as many stakeholder roles in your project as people you want to work with in the project at the same time. This is necessary because you approach the project as one of the stakeholder roles.

If you are going to work with several people in the same project, one user can start the project via “Edit Project” in the main menu. The other persons can join the project session by choosing the option “Join” in the main menu and selecting the correct project there. Because the project has already been started, it will no longer be visible at the Option Edit Project in the Main Menu.

Create a new user account?

If you have Domain Admin rights, you can create new users in your domain. This function can be found at “Options” in the main menu. On this Tygron Support Wiki page you can see exactly which steps you can go through https://support.tygron.com/wiki/Account_management#Adding_and_removing_users.

If you and your organization do not yet have an existing domain on the Tygron Platform, you can also create a new user account by requesting a Free Trial.

Add a custom calculation model?

By using an Excel Indicator you can add your own calculation model to your project. To do this, you must create an Excel sheet and import it into your project. More information about how to do that is available on the Tygron Support Wiki. Import my (own) data to my project?

You can complement your project with your own geo data. The purpose and information available in your file determine the steps you will need to follow while importing your data. To help you with this, a Geo Data Wizard is available in the Tygron Platform. Here you will be guided step by step in loading your file: https://support.tygron.com/wiki/Geo_Data_Wizard.

Solving problem

How do I acquire a new password?

When your account is first created, your domain administrator cannot set a password for you. All they can do is activate your password reset. A new password is randomly generated and sent to the email address that is also your username.

If you request a Free Trial, you will be asked to enter a password yourself.

If you forget your password, you can select the “Forgot password” option in the login screen. This will also reset your password and send a new randomly generated password to your e-mail address.

Small tip: Give the e-mail a few minutes to arrive and check your spam folder in case the mail does not arrive. After receiving a random password, you can change it to your liking by going to Options My account Change my password. There you have the option “Change my password”. Click on it and you will be asked to enter a new password.

Small tip: Your password must be at least 8 characters long and contain at least one number. Choose a password that is easy to remember but hard to guess for others.

How can I contribute to solving a bug or sponsor a new feature?

New functionalities are consistently developed and bugs are solved during the standard release cycles of Tygron. However, it may be that you as a customer want to use a specific new feature or would like to see a certain bug fixed quickly. When you purchase a partnership license from us, you will have the opportunity to express your wishes and we will explore with you what possibilities are feasible within a certain time frame and what (possible) costs are associated with it. For more details about the different partnership licenses that are available, please contact license@tygron.com. We will gladly help you further with relevant information and then together explore a suitable solution.

What do the error messages mean in my Excel sheet?

If there is an error in your Excel sheet, you will see an error message in your project. An indication is given in which cell the error is located. You can then download the debug Excel sheet and view it to see which values used for calculations are loaded into your Excel. If you want to correct the error, you must adjust the original Excel sheet and update it in the Excel overview in your project.

I cannot find my project in the “Edit Project” main menu.

If you do not see a project in the “Edit Project” main menu, but you do have access rights to this project, then your project is probably available at the “Join” option in the main menu. This can happen if someone is already editing within the same domain in the same project and a session has already been activated. The project can also appear under the “Join“ menu if it was started but not properly completed due to, for example, the lack of connection to the internet, your project has crashed or you have simply closed your laptop. Your project will be kept active for fifteen minutes so that you can join again and continue editing where you left off. If you do not reconnect with your project within that quarter, your project will be closed and saved.

Safety and privacy

How is my data secured?

Tygron values the privacy and security of your data. The license guarantees that you work in your own, password-protected domain. This domain is managed by yourself, so you also decide who has access to it. It is not necessary in advance to add data to your projects yourself, but it is possible. Data that you add to your projects and domain is encrypted and stored securely. Tygron treats your data with the utmost confidentiality. If you want Tygron to look into your projects, for example to provide support, you can indicate this yourself. Therefore, the Tygron support team by default does not have the access to your project

The Tygron Platform runs on our own servers, in our server space. In this way we can properly arrange security. We work with an encrypted SSL connection.

The Tygron Platform consists of a Client and Server Application. The data (projects) are saved and edited in the server application. Therefore the data always remains the property of the customer. When I start the application for the first time I am being prompted to accept the user terms. Why is that, I already have a signed license agreement?

The conditions that you see the first time you start the application are the end-user terms, the so-called EULA. These are terms that are completely in line with the terms included in the license. However because the license is issued on the basis of an organization, the end user is also given a moment to read the terms that are attached to the use of the Tygron Platform.
